The i-MiEV’s on-board Level 1 portable charging cable allows you to plug into a standard household 120V/15amp dedicated outlet. It takes approximately 22 hours to charge from close to empty.

Level 2 Charging

For everyday use, you can recharge your i-MiEV faster with a Level 2 home charging system, known as EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment). Installing the dedicated 240V charger system will give you a full charge in 7 hours from close to empty.

DC Quick Charge

DC Quick Charge

Ultra-efficient, public DC quick-charging stations deliver an 80 percent charge (from close to empty), in as little as 30 minutes with the i-MiEV’s standard quick-charger port. The i-MiEV makes use of the CHAdeMO protocol for DC Quick Charge, a standard that has proven popular in both Japan and Europe. For more information please visit chademo.com.

The MiEV Remote System gives you the flexibility to program your charging time to benefit from off-peak pricing periods. A convenient timer lets you monitor the charge and the remote fob allows you to pre-heat or pre-cool the cabin while charging or plugged in. This does not use any power from the battery.

Because the battery is the heart of the i-MiEV, the vehicle’s Operating System monitors its health via a Battery Management System while the Low Energy Warning Indicator will flash to indicate when it’s time to recharge.
