The i-MiEV is equipped with a portable charging cable, which has 2 amperage settings of 8A and 12A. It allows you to plug into a household 120V/15A dedicated outlet. At 8A, it takes approximately 22 hours to charge from close to empty. Where the electricity supply is confirmed to be enough, you can charge faster (in approximately 14 hours) by switching to 12A.
For everyday use, you can recharge your i-MiEV faster with a Level 2 home charging system, known as EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment). Installing the dedicated 240V charger system will give you a full charge in 7 hours from close to empty.
Ultra-efficient, public DC quick-charging stations deliver an 80 percent charge (from close to empty), in as little as 30 minutes with the i-MiEV's standard quick-charger port. The i-MiEV Remote System gives you the flexibility to program your charging time to benefit from potential off-peak pricing periods. A convenient timer lets you monitor the charge and the remote fob allows you to pre-heat or pre-cool the cabin while charging or plugged in. This process saves power from the battery for maximum driving range.

Cold weather can be hard on your battery especially during charging. That's why the i-MiEV comes with a standard Battery Warming System to ensure the battery stays at an operable temperature.
i-MiEV's shift selector lets you choose between three driving modes – maximum fun (D), maximum economy (ECO) and maximum regenerative braking (B) – allowing you to manage your energy wisely.
The i-MiEV doesn't even have a tailpipe. Compared to a car that runs on gasoline, the i-MiEV uses less energy, produces no noxious fumes and has zero tailpipe emissions.
Because the battery is the heart of the i-MiEV, the vehicle's Operating System monitors its health via a Battery Management System while the Low Energy Warning Indicator will flash to indicate when it's time to recharge.
