  • Dealers donate more than $75,000 in food and funds to local communities

MISSISSAUGA, ON, October 16, 2023Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada (MMSCAN) and its dealer partners across the country have donated the equivalent of nearly half a million meals to national and local food banks.

MMSCAN had a record number of dealers take part in its Driving Healthy Change campaign this year, donating more than $75,000 directly to food banks in their own communities from coast to coast. In addition, MMSCAN made a corporate donation of $150,000 to Food Banks Canada. MMSCAN also hosted a social media contest with followers guessing how many boxes of cereal would fit in the back of a 2023 Outlander PHEV. As part of that contest, Mitsubishi donated $1,000 to Food Banks Mississauga and $500 to Simcoe Hall Food Bank in Oshawa – the hometown of the contest winner.

MMSCAN’s employees at its head office and Parts Distribution Centre donated more than 200 pounds of food and raised money at its company golf tournament to support Food Banks Mississauga. Team members will also donate their time to volunteer at the food bank later this fall.

Collectively, MMSCAN and its employees and dealers across Canada donated more than $225,000 and more than a thousand kilograms of food this year, bringing the three-year total of the Driving Healthy Change campaign to more than $500,000.

“I’m incredibly proud of how everyone came together to support an important issue facing food banks across Canada,” said MMSCAN President and CEO Kenji Harada. “Our dealers continue to show how they are socially responsible members of their home communities.

Erin Filey-Wronecki, Chief Development and Partnerships Officer with Food Banks Canada, said the need for donations has increased dramatically over the past three years.

“Thank you to Mitsubishi and all those that supported the Driving Healthy Change campaign to help those in need,” she said. “As we work towards increasing awareness of food insecurity during World Food Day, we know how tough it is for many that struggle across the county and your donations truly make a difference. On behalf of Food Banks Canada and the network of over 4,750 food banks and community organizations, thank you for your support.”
